Voters approve budget, 2 members elected

On May 16, Cohoes City School District voters approved a $52.3 million budget for the 2023-24 school year by a vote of 427 to 143, a margin of 75%.

Voters also elected two members to serve on the Cohoes City School District Board of Education: incumbent Margaret Giller will serve her third full term  and David Jarosz will serve his first term.

“We are grateful to the community for their steadfast support of our schools and our mission to prepare students for success in tomorrow’s world,” said Superintendent Peggy O’Shea. “This budget will help us continue to provide a strong foundation for our students.”

Board of Education results

There were four candidates vying for two seats on the Board of Education. Here are the vote totals:

  • Brandon Guy – 190
  • Margaret Giller – 314
  • David Jarosz – 258
  • George Primeau – 208

Tonight’s results are unofficial. Vote totals will be certified on Wednesday.
