Part-Time School Safety Officer (10-Month Work Year)

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Working knowledge of the practices and procedures necessary to maintain order and insure the protection of life and the security of buildings, grounds and equipment, working knowledge of school district rules and regulations; ability to exercise sound judgment in carrying out duties; ability to maintain good relationships with students and faculty; promotes positive interactions with students to encourage good behavior and decision making; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions; good powers of observation; courtesy and tact; ability to prepare brief written communications; ability to communicate information orally and by written report; ability to use self-defense, restraint techniques and security equipment as necessary, physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position; honesty and integrity; good judgment; emotional maturity; courage; reliability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelors degree and two (2) years of experience as a municipal, state or military police officer or correction officer or other equivalent experience; or
  2. Graduation from high school or possession of a comparable diploma, and three (3) years of experience as a municipal, state or military police officer or correction officer or other equivalent experience; or
  3. An equivalent combination of training and experience as described above.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT IN SCHOOL DISTRICTS:

Candidates must possess a valid New York State Driver’s license at the time of appointment, and must maintain such license throughout the tenure of employment.

Appt: These applicants must be reachable on the Civil Service Exam when given.

Part-Time Teacher Aides

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Good general intelligence, ability to establish good relationships with children and others, familiarity with classroom routine, background or knowledge in specific field where specialized duties are involved, above average clerical aptitude, resourcefulness in conducting above-described activities indirectly related to teaching process, neat personal appearance, ability to maintain discipline, tact, courtesy, good judgment, physical condition commensurate with the demands and duties of the position.

Complete a Non-Instructional Staff Application and the civil service application. Submit them to HR for immediate consideration. Part-time aides are paid $12 an hour and work approximately 3.75 hours/day (M-F)

High school graduation or equivalency is required.

Substitute Cleaners

Part-time and substitute work for cleaning in school buildings. Complete a non-instructional staff application and submit to Human Resources at the above address. Substitute cleaners make $13.50 an hour and are typically called on an as-needed basis.
