Openings

CMS Summer Learning Academy Coordinator

This position will coordinate our in-person summer learning opportunity, “Cohoes Middle School, (CMS), Summer Learning Academy”, for our middle school students. The program is designed to help students maintain and further develop their skills in reading, writing, and math over the summer in accordance with New York State Learning Standards.

Expectations for this key role include:

  • Promotes community of learners program-wide through the implementation of project-based learning themes and common building-wide activities
  • Manages program-wide communication (Parent Square, newsletters, progress reports)
  • Coordinates the scheduling of students
  • Ensures COVID protocols are communicated and implemented
  • Oversees arrival and dismissal and accurate daily attendance
  • Assures classes are covered, subs procured
  • Contacts parents and assists teachers with discipline if needed
  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of payroll
  • Ensures the completion of two evacuation drills
  • Coordinates staff room assignments and  the distribution of supplies
  • Connects with on-call administrator if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  New York State certification required in teaching, social work, school psychologist, or school counseling

Commitment: The program runs Monday through Thursday mornings, July 6th through August 5th, 2021. However, due to the nature of this program coordination role, the incumbent is expected to be available to work not only during the hours of the program, but also as required, before or after the daily schedule and before/beyond the program’s duration.

Term: July 6, 2021 through August 5, 2021, Monday – Thursday, 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Please note: Due to nature of this position, additional hours will be required.
