Students at Harmony Hill took a step toward building their futures as Junior Achievement brought its interactive “JA in a Day” program to the school. Designed to introduce young learners to real-world concepts, the event provided hands-on lessons centered on financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship.
Throughout the day, students gained key insights into what it takes to start and run a business, while exploring how local companies serve as the cornerstone of a thriving community. Volunteers and educators guided students through lessons showing how businesses provide essential goods, services and jobs, helping the local economy grow.
A highlight of the event was a Monopoly-style board game. As students navigated the board, they tracked money earned, saved, spent and donated, putting basic financial management and business skills into practice in a collaborative environment.
Through teamwork challenges and decision-making exercises, the “JA in a Day” program empowered Harmony Hill students with critical life skills, inspiring Cohoes’ next generation of community leaders and entrepreneurs.
