The Cohoes City School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Keith Fischer as the assistant principal of Cohoes High School.
Fischer brings 17 years of experience in education, including the past decade serving students in the Cohoes City School District as a special education teacher. During his tenure at Cohoes, he has demonstrated a deep commitment to student success while taking on numerous leadership roles, including teacher leader, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention trainer, Future Ready Pathways mentor coordinator and girls varsity soccer coach.
“Keith has consistently demonstrated a student-centered approach, strong leadership skills and a commitment to building positive relationships throughout our school community,” said Superintendent O’Shea. “We are excited to welcome him to this new role and look forward to the positive impact he will continue to have on our students, staff and families,” she added.
Fischer earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and social studies from The College of Saint Rose and a master’s degree in students with disabilities from Molloy University. He is currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building Leadership at SUNY Plattsburgh.
“I am honored and excited to serve as assistant principal at Cohoes High School,” said Fischer. “I look forward to working alongside our students, families, staff and community to support student success, strengthen school culture and develop consistency. I am eager to contribute to creating an environment where every student has the opportunity to grow,” he added.
Outside the school, Fischer enjoys golfing, cooking and traveling. A dedicated baseball fan, he has visited nearly every Major League Baseball stadium and has just seven left on his list to complete the full tour!
