District mourns loss of CMS teacher Lisa Gendron

It is with great sadness that we inform our school community of the passing of Cohoes Middle School teacher Lisa Gendron. We offer our deepest sympathy to her family and to all who feel the loss.

Mrs. Gendron served as an educator in Cohoes for over 20 years, first as a special education teacher and then as a sixth grade teacher at Cohoes Middle School.

“Lisa had a tremendous impact on the lives of countless students and fellow educators,” Interim Superintendent Peggy O’Shea said. “She was an amazing teacher and a compassionate, caring person. She will be greatly missed.”

“Lisa was devoted, first, to her family. She loved teaching and was adored by her students. She made a genuine difference in their lives and that will always be part of her legacy. Our time with her was a gift,” CMS Principal Dan Martinelli said.

Our team of school counselors and social workers are available to support your child during this difficult time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s school counselor or principal to discuss any concerns or request support.
