Capital Project Phase 2 work to begin this spring

Contracts for Phase 2 of the capital project were approved at the February 14 Board of Education meeting with construction set to begin this spring.

At the high school, work on the Alumni Field & Track is anticipated to begin April 15, weather permitting. These athletic improvements include the construction of a synthetic turf varsity field with a new eight-lane track, stadium bleachers and field lighting.

“We are excited that our Phase 2 projects are getting underway and are happy that our high school seniors will be able to play their final Senior Night games on the field before construction begins,” said Superintendent Peggy O’Shea.

The middle school will see work beginning in July as the science classrooms are set to have a complete renovation, which will include: casework, plumbing, electric, ceilings, lighting, paint, window shades, marker boards and furniture.

Work on the fire alarm systems at the middle and high school are scheduled to begin this spring during the second shift, which means minimal disruption during school hours. Fire alarm work at Van Schaick is anticipated to take place this summer and at Harmony Hill beginning November 2024.
