Abram Lansing Elementary School and Harmony Hill School have combined to raise nearly $3,700 for the Kids Heart Challenge.

The challenge is an annual event where students learn about heart health while helping others by raising money for the American Heart Association.

Abram Lansing’s fundraising efforts ended recently with a grand total of $2,604 collected. Harmony Hill has raised nearly $1,100 and their fundraising runs through Apr. 12.

One Abram Lansing student, fourth grader Addison Brady, single-handedly raised more than $1,000.

“My mom knows a lot of people,” Addison said when asked how they successfully raised so much money.

Abram Lansing physical education teacher Valerie Peretin said it is only the second time they have seen a student bring in more than $1,000.

“It’s really amazing,” Peretin said. “Our fundraising was all-virtual this year due to COVID and Addison and all of the students who participated did a great job!”
