Dear Parents/Guardians,
The Cohoes City School District is once again conducting an anonymous School Climate Survey to gather input to inform district practices as well as update the District Comprehensive Improvement Plan as required under the Every Student Succeeds Act. The survey is designed to gauge school climate and asks questions in the areas of discipline, student support, student engagement, and safety conditions in our schools. We are surveying school staff, students and parents in order to get a complete picture of our school climate. The survey results will be shared at an upcoming board meeting and with building leadership teams. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of last year’s results, please contact your building principal.
We are asking each family to complete only one parent survey even if you have more than one child in the district. You may take the survey by following the link below that corresponds to your child’s school.
In an effort to increase our elementary parent participation this year, computers will be available for parents to complete the survey at parent-teacher conferences on December 5th and 10th. Parents of middle and high school students will be able to take the survey in the counseling office at their respective school. A survey link will also be sent out to all parents through Blackboard email to provide an opportunity to take the survey at your convenience.
While the survey can be accessed on any browser, it is not optimal on a cell phone due to the size of the print. Therefore, we recommend using a desktop or laptop computer to complete it.

A similar survey will be given to students in grades 5-12 during the school day in January. This anonymous survey does not ask about your child’s personal experiences, but rather about their perceptions in the areas of school engagement, school safety and the school environment. All of the questions have been reviewed by district staff and are appropriate for school-aged students. The survey will take about 20 minutes to complete.
A copy of the student survey is available below and also at your child’s school. The survey is completely voluntary. Please notify your school’s principal in writing by January 6th if you do not want your child to participate.
