The following message was sent to families on ParentSquare on February 24.
Dear families,
We are pleased to inform you that at the March 4 Board of Education meeting Cohoes High School Principal Dr. Laura Tarlo will be recommended as the Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services effective July 1, 2026.
Dr. Tarlo has been an outstanding leader at CHS for a decade as principal and assistant principal. Prior to that she served as assistant principal in the Shenendehowa School District.
“Cohoes High School has been my professional home for the past decade, and it has been the greatest honor of my career to serve as a building leader here,” said Dr. Tarlo. “Moving into this district-wide role as Assistant Superintendent will allow me to take the supportive and optimistic leadership lens we’ve cultivated at the high school and extend it to the entire Cohoes community.”
Superintendent of Schools Peggy O’Shea is excited to work alongside Dr. Tarlo in her new role.
“Dr. Tarlo’s knowledge and experience, collaborative leadership style and student-centered approach will serve our schools exceptionally well,” she said.
The district will begin to recruit for a high principal in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
