Jennifer DeMarco named new Middle School principal

headshot of jennifer demarcoAt the district’s September 8th meeting, the Cohoes City School District Board of Education approved the appointment of Jennifer DeMarco as the new principal of Cohoes Middle School. Mrs. DeMarco will be coming to Cohoes from the Troy City School District, where she has served as Response to Intervention Coordinator and Testing Coordinator since 2018. Mrs. DeMarco will start at the Middle School on September 22nd.

“I am honored to be named principal of Cohoes Middle School,” Mrs. DeMarco said after the meeting. “I am looking forward to working with all the dedicated faculty and staff, students, and families in the Cohoes City School District.”

Prior to her time as RTI Coordinator, Mrs. DeMarco served as a Mathematics Curriculum leader in Troy.  She also has ten years of experience as a middle school Mathematics teacher in Troy.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Russell Sage College, her master’s degree from Sage Graduate School, and attended the Leadership Academy at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.

“Mrs. DeMarco’s passion for education and her commitment to students made her the ideal person to take the reins at Cohoes Middle School,” said Superintendent Peggy O’Shea. “We are thrilled that she will be joining our Cohoes community.”

Mrs. DeMarco lives in Colonie with her husband and two children.
