There is no instructional manual for life, but there are numerous posters providing sage advice and “how-to” guidance for everything from handwashing to photography.
CHS Junior Gage Guertin will be adding his own poster to the world of helpful wall-hangings, designing and printing an instructional poster for his peers in the Culinary Arts program.

Gage is enrolled in the Digital Media program at the Career and Technical Education Center where he will learn professional skills in industry standard software while developing a working knowledge of design theory and practice.
Ultimately, Gage would like to be a graphic designer and one of his first assignments on the path to a professional career is to design an instructional poster for the Culinary Arts program.
“It’s going to be a cartoon and ‘how to’ poster,” he said. “It’s fun to make something that a lot of people will see.”
Digital Media Design teacher Barb Gorbaty said Gage was the perfect choice for making the poster.
“Gage’s unique style of drawing captures action in a fun, comic way. This is ideal for showing the steps in a process,” she said.
The teenager said he appreciates the opportunity to learn new skills at BOCES.
“I really like design and art and learning more about it is a lot of fun.”
