As we enter the budget season, we want to inform you of some changes to the school budget vote and school board elections process.
In late May, Albany County informed districts that the Board of Elections no longer had the capacity to support school budget votes and elections. In years’ past, they would provide voting machines, training and technical assistance. As a result, the district must now purchase our own voting machines. The most cost-effective way to do this was to work with Capital Region BOCES to make the purchase aidable.
On election day this year, voters will be presented with a different sign-in process. Rather than signing your name in a physical book, you will simply tap to verify your name on an Ipad. As the voting machines will be similar to the ones used in the past, there will be no difference in the actual voting process.
We appreciate your flexibility as we adapt to these changes. Absentee voting will continue to be available and we will share detailed information about all voting options as we get closer to the May election.
