I. The Meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. by Board President, Mr. Nolin.

  • The Board expressed their sincere gratitude to the advisors on tonight’s agenda for volunteering their time to our students.
  • The Board welcomed Peggy O’Shea as our Superintendent of Schools.

VI. REPORT FROM MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

  1. THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Board of Education Meetings of April 21, 2021 and April 26, 2021.
  2. THAT the Board of Education approves a behavioral consultant contract with Kelly Brock residing in Queensbury, New York to provide support services for individuals with disabilities and/or social/emotional, cognitive and/or behavior challenges in accordance to the terms and conditions as outlined herein at a rate of $115/per hour up to a maximum of $525 per day not to exceed 20 hours for the period April 20, 2021 to June 30, 2021.

VII. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT – PERSONNEL

INSTRUCTIONAL
  1. THAT the Board of Education accepts the resignation of Sandra Sheeley from her position as Foreign Language Teacher (CHS/CMS).
    Effective: June 30, 2021
  2. THAT the Board of Education creates the following position:
    1.0 FTE Guidance Counselor (CHS)
    Effective: May 3, 2021
  3. THAT the Board of Education appoints the following individuals to the advisor positions listed below for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year:
    • CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY: Dean – Class on 2021 (CHS) – UNPAID
      • Name: Caryn Dollard
      • FTE: 0.0
    • CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY: 8th Grade Activities Club – UNPAID
      • Name: Fallon Jennings, Jill Havens
      • FTE: 0.0
        Effective May 6, 2021

        NON-INSTRUCTIONAL
  4. THAT the Board of Education accepts the resignation of Keith Blais from his position as Cleaner (AL).
    Effective: April 26, 2021
  5. BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Brittney Brunick to the position of Full-Time Teacher Aide position subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on an emergency conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a probationary appointment.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Ms. Brunick regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education. Her continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Jaylen Chicaway to the position of Part-Time School Teacher Aide subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on an emergency conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a temporary appointment.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Ms. Chicaway regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education. Her continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment.

  7. BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education hereby appoints and employs Peggy O’Shea as Superintendent of Schools for the period of May 5, 2021 to June 30, 2024 and further approves the Employment Agreement dated May 5, 2021 setting forth the terms and conditions of such appointment and employment and authorizes the President of the Board to execute said agreement on behalf of the School District.
