I. The Meeting was called to order at 6:04 p.m. by Board Vice President, Mrs. Giller.

VI. REPORT FROM MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION

  1. THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Board of Education Meeting of April 14, 2021.
  2. THAT the Board of Education accepts the Minutes of the Committee on Special Education for the following dates: 1/21/21, 3/1/21, 3/8/21, 3/9/21, 3/11/21, 3/15/21,3/16/21, 3/17/21, 3/18/21, 3/22/21, 3/23/21, 3/24/21, 3/25/21, 3/26/21, 3/29/21 and4/13/21.
  3. THAT the Board of Education adopts the FY2021/22 Budget in the amount of $43,636,917.
  4. THAT the Board of Education adopts the FY2021/22 Property Tax Report Card.
  5. THAT the Board of Education adopts the 2021/2022 School Calendar.
  6. THAT the Board of Education approves $5,722 to be expended from the Cafeteria Fund Balance to cover the purchase of a cargo van for the Food Services Program.
  7. THAT the Board of Education approves the following resolution:

    BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties be authorized to expend the sums set forth in the Administrative Budget document in the total amount of $12,199,555 during the school year 2021-22 and to raise such sum by assessments to component school districts, non-component school districts, other BOCES and other sources as required by law.

  8. THAT the Board of Education approves the following resolution:

    BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby casts its vote for the following candidate(s) to fill two (2) vacant seats for the term of July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024 on the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties:

    1. RESOLVED that the Board of Education cast its vote for the election of Brian Backus (Home District: Niskayuna Central SD) as a member of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady-Saratoga Counties.
    2. RESOLVED that the Board of Education cast its vote for the election of Lynne Lenhardt (Home District: Bethlehem Central SD) as a member of the Board of Cooperative Educational Services of Albany-Schoharie-Schenectady- Saratoga Counties.

VII. RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT – PERSONNEL

  1. THAT the Board of Education be notified of the following CTA unit members whose work assignment requires in-district travel between buildings to be compensated in the amount of $250 per the CTA contract for the 2020-21 school year unless otherwise noted:

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Cohoes City School District hereby appoints Keith Blais to the position of Full-Time Cleaner subject to the rules of the Cohoes Civil Service Commission on an emergency conditional basis, in accordance with the Civil Service Rules, such appointment is a probationary appointment.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from Mr. Blais regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education. His continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that he is fully cleared for employment.

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this appointment is made on an emergency conditional basis and subject to both a statement from the individual regarding criminal conviction(s) or pending criminal charges and the receipt of criminal background clearance from the Commissioner of Education. The individual’s continued employment is specifically contingent upon the District’s receipt of notice from the Commissioner of Education that she is fully cleared for employment:
