Top two students from CMS Class of 2021 announced

Shae Fontaine and Anyla-Zanii LeeThe top two students from the Cohoes Middle School Class of 2021 have been announced.

Shae Fontaine – Valedictorian

Shae Fontaine earned the title of valedictorian with a 99.39 grade point average (GPA).

Fontaine is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, captain of the JV soccer team, and a volunteer at the Holy Trinity Church food pantry.

“Ever since I got my first quarter average in sixth grade, being valedictorian has been a goal of mine,” Fontaine said. “Hearing my mom say how proud of me she is for getting it, I was thrilled.”

Fontaine plans to one day attend Oxford University in England.

Anyla-Zanii Lee – Salutatorian

Anyla-Zanii Lee earned the title of salutatorian with a 98.48 GPA.

Lee is a member of the National Junior Honor Society, modified soccer team, a black belt in taekwondo, and participates in gymnastics, ballet and tap.

“It was a hard year, but I adapted and just kept trying my best,” Lee said. “This is something I’ve been working toward, so it feels great.”

On moving up to Cohoes High School, Lee said, “I’m looking forward to the amazing clubs and opportunities to get ready for college.”
