Changes to COVID case notification procedures

We wanted to make our families aware of some upcoming changes being made to streamline our process for notifying you of confirmed COVID-19 cases in our school community.

Beginning Thursday, Feb. 11, we will no longer send notifications districtwide. Instead, you will only receive a message if there is a confirmed case in your affiliated school. Additionally, all notifications will be posted at the top of our COVID-19 Updates & Information page rather than creating a separate news post for each one.

No changes are being made to how we will communicate as part of our contact tracing procedures. Anyone determined to be a close or proximate contact of someone who tests positive for COVID-19 will be contacted first by a school administrator and then the Albany County Department of Health to discuss the need to quarantine and other related information.

Please remember that the best plan for addressing the COVID-19 virus is to remain informed and follow these steps to help contain the spread of the virus:

  • Keep at least a 6-foot distance between you and others when out in the community — even if you don’t feel sick or have any symptoms
  • Wear a snug-fitting surgical or cloth face mask that covers your nose and mouth
  • Stay home when you are sick
  • Limit social gatherings
Preparing our students for success in tomorrow’s world.
