Stuck for a Buck earns Harmony Hill “Rookie of the Year” honors

Harmony Hill gets Rookie of the Year award from LLSHarmony Hill’s Kiera Hovey and Sharon Laughlin recently accepted, on behalf of the school, a “Rookie of the Year” award from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). The award was in recognition of the school’s Stuck for a Buck fundraising efforts last March.

Those efforts were inspired by 1st grader Lucas Santoro, who is a survivor of acute lymphoblastic leukemia after being diagnosed at the age of two. With Stuck for a Buck, students and teachers each donated $1 for a piece of duct tape, which they used to collectively tape Lucas and Harmony Hill Principal Mark Perry to a wall in the gym. The fundraiser brought in more than $800, and the school raised about $2,700 for LLS throughout the school year.
