5th Annual Real Kids Wear Pink Day raises tens of thousands of dollars for cancer research

Cohoes students across the district participated in the 5th Annual Real Kids Wear Pink Day, a benefit to raise money for cancer research with the American Cancer Society. At the beginning of the day, Cohoes students had already raised more than $40,000 for cancer research.

Started in 2017 by Cohoes Middle School student Carli O’Hara, the annual fundraiser collects donations and sells shirts to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Carli started the fundraiser after her grandmother was diagnosed with and survived Stage 4 breast cancer. The New York State Legislature and Governor’s office have both recognized Carli and her classmates for their efforts.

The campaign has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for cancer research over the past five years.
