Cohoes Middle School stands as a hub of educational excellence in the heart of Cohoes. Guided by our motto, Work Hard. Be Nice., we are dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional growth of learners during their critical early adolescent years.
Located in a vibrant community just north of Albany, our school serves students in grades 6-8, providing a supportive and dynamic learning environment.
Our dedicated team of educators is committed to creating a challenging, yet compassionate atmosphere where students can explore their potential, develop critical-thinking skills, and build a strong foundation for future academic success.
Cohoes Middle School is more than just an educational institution – it is a nurturing community that empowers young minds, celebrates individual strengths, and prepares students to become lifelong learners and positive contributors to their community and the world beyond.

Attendance
Attendance is one of the most important factors in a student’s academic success, especially during the middle school years when learning becomes more challenging and foundational skills are built for high school and beyond. At our school, we live by the motto “Be a HERO – Here Everyday, Ready and On Time” because we believe that every day a student is present is a day filled with opportunities to grow, learn, and connect. Consistent attendance helps students stay on track with their learning, feel more confident in the classroom, and be a part of our school community in a meaningful way.
When students are on time and prepared each day, they set themselves up for success—not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. Being a HERO means more than showing up; it means showing up ready to learn, participate, and contribute. Our staff is here to support every student, but we know the first step begins with simply being present. Together, let’s commit to helping every student be a HERO, because every day matters.
In the event of a student’s absence from school, families are required to call the attendance office at (518) 237-4131, extension 2228, as soon as possible.
