Acceptable Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Assignment: 1:1

Non-instructional Civil Service Competitive Senior Typist – 1.0 – FTE

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of business arithmetic and English; ability to type accurately at a satisfactory rate of speed; ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions;
ability to get along well with others; ability to write legibly; clerical aptitude; mental alertness, neatness,  accuracy; tact and courtesy, integrity; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with demands and duties of the position.
Acceptable Experience and Training: Graduation from high school (or possession of a high school (equivalency diploma) and two years of clerical experience which shall have involved: typing; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Schedule:  l0-month work year
Location: Cohoes High School
Start Date:  Immediate
Salary: Per CSEA contract
Appointment: Provisional Appointment. Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by the City of Cohoes Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Rules for the City of Cohoes Civil Service to obtain a permanent appointment.
