Meet our Board Candidates: Nadia Carey, Susan Paradis, and Marianne Gendron

On Tuesday, May 17, Cohoes voters will elect three members to the Board of Education. The board is made up of seven volunteer citizens who are each elected to serve three-year terms. The board election and budget vote will be held at the district’s three elementary schools from noon to 9 p.m.

Nadia Carey

Nadia Carey is seeking her second term on the Board of Education.

“I remain committed to providing all students with the tools they need for future success, in all areas of their lives, no matter the path they take.  I am proud of the work done by the Board during my first term – coming out of a pandemic in a stronger fiscal position and with steady leadership.  I look forward to the opportunity to continue to serve the community, ensuring that district resources are focused appropriately and effectively to achieve the District’s vision of ‘a purpose and a plan for all.'”

Susan Paradis

“I was born and raised in Cohoes and I am a proud graduate of Cohoes High School. I am excited and honored for the possibility of becoming a member of our school board. Recent experiences have taught us so much about ourselves, our children, and our community. If given this opportunity, I look forward to helping enhance a culture that is healthy for learning, teaching and just being a kid. Being a part of the conversation and helping to responsibly implement change is my commitment to our community.”

Marianne Gendron

“I am a lifelong Cohoes resident and a graduate of the class of ‘91. I have three children; my oldest is a graduate of Cohoes High School and I have twins who are currently sophomores. I am a Registered Nurse and an active volunteer in the community.  I am passionate when it comes to all children and all of those that influence them. I look forward to being an advocate for the betterment of our children and educators.”
