The Cohoes City School District seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Interim Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services in support of the District’s mission and vision to prepare students for success in tomorrow’s world, ensuring all students graduate with a purpose and a plan. This is expected to be a one-year assignment. The ideal candidate has a strong background in instructional leadership with prior experience as an Assistant Superintendent, a Superintendent or a Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
Position
The successful candidate is a strong educational leader with an in–depth background in curriculum development, instruction, assessment, supervision and professional learning. They will assist the Superintendent in carrying out the strategic vision for curriculum and instruction. They will function as the spokesperson and resident expert on curriculum, instruction, pedagogy, and learning. Effectiveness in this position is dependent upon collaborative, collegial relationships cultivated throughout the organization with administrators, staff, students, and families.

- Strong leadership experience in aligning curriculum and instruction to NYS learning standards Practice in designing learning environments to meet the needs of all learners
- Skill and expertise in the use of data to inform curricular, instructional and programmatic decision making
- A deep understanding of and commitment to equity informed and trauma sensitive practices Evidence of effective support for the integration of technology into instruction and professional development
- The ability to build consensus through collaborative decision making
- A strong student–centered focus
- The ability to plan and present professional learning experiences for administrators, teachers and staff
- An understanding of the importance of fiscal responsibility in a small city school district
- Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills
- Authenticity, integrity, and honesty
Additional Requirements
- New York State certification as a School District Administrator, (SDA), or School District Leader, (SDL), is required; permanent certification in a teaching field
- Masters Degree from an accredited institution
- Successful experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent or Director of Curriculum and Instruction.
