Vacancy – Custodian (Full-time)

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Good knowledge of building cleaning and grounds maintenance practices, supplies and equipment. Ability to use said supplies and equipment safely, economically and efficiently. Some knowledge of small engine maintenance, plumbing, electricity and carpentry. Ability to understand & follow simple oral and written directions. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
Acceptable experience and training: One year of experience in building cleaning and maintenance activities or in one of the standard building trades and completion of a standard grade school course; or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Schedule: 12-month work year (6:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
Location: Cohoes Middle School
Salary: As per the CSEA contract
Appt: Provisional appointment in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law.
Candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with city of Cohoes Civil Service rules to obtain a permanent appointment.
