Is my child too sick to go to school?

Send your child to school if…

  • S/he has a runny nose or just a little cough, but no other symptoms.
  • S/he hasn’t taken any fever reducing medicine for 24 hours, and hasn’t had a fever during that time.
  • S/he hasn’t thrown up or had any diarrhea for 24 hours.

Keep your child home if…

  • S/he has a temperature higher than 99.6 degrees even after taking medicine.
  • S/he is throwing up or has diarrhea.
  • S/he has pink and crusty eyes.

Call the doctor if…

  • S/he has been throwing up or has had diarrhea for more than two days.
  • S/he has a temperature higher than 99.6 degrees for more than two days.
  • S/he has had sniffles more than a week and it isn’t getting better.
