Together, we can reduce chronic absenteeism in Cohoes.
In 2016-17, 26 percent of all Cohoes students missed 18 or more days of school, putting them at risk of falling behind and dropping out of school. The district is taking critical steps to address the attendance epidemic so our students have every chance to succeed.
We’re working with local businesses to raise awareness of our chronic absenteeism issues.
We’re expanding academic supports and wrap-around services for students so they can come to school ready to learn.
We’re also working with public officials to reduce attendance barriers. This includes a new compulsory attendance law for five-year-olds enrolled in our schools.
