The Cohoes Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16 to discuss options for the district in anticipation of significant reductions in state aid.
Recently, The New York State Division of the Budget announced a projected revenue loss of $14.5 billion due to COVID-19. In response, the state announced it would temporarily hold back 20 percent of payments to localities, which include school districts. State leaders are seeking additional funding from the federal government to avoid permanent reductions in aid.
Board members will meet in-person, but in order to adhere to social distancing guidelines the meeting will not be open to members of the public. A livestream will be available, with a recording of the meeting posted to our Board of Education page the following day.
