A public hearing will be held by the State of New York Office of
Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities on the draft
of the Five Year Comprehensive Plan: 2008 – 2012 on Sept. 8. For

Saratoga Bridges is sponsoring the following activities for
families who are fostering or who have adopted children with
developmental disabilities:
Sept. 26 from 6 – 8 p.m.: Family night out at Explore (www.exploringlensfalls.com).
Kids enjoy a fun filled evening of activities while parents
relax and enjoy an evening of discussion and spa treatments!
Oct. 15 from 6 – 8 p.m.: "Dinner & Discussion" at Saratoga
Bridges, Ballston Spa, topic "fetal alcohol syndrome" presented
by Diane O'Connor, foster and adoptive parent and advocate.
Nov. 12 from 6 – 8 p.m.: "Dinner & Discussion" at Saratoga
Bridges, Ballston Spa, topic "reactive attachment disorder"
presented by Suzanne Daversa, Parsons Child Family Center.

Recreational Activities Available in Capital District
Recreational programs in North Colonie for children with special
needs ages 5-21. (Players do not need to live in North Colonie
to participate.)
Soccer starts on Saturday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. We play off of RT.
9 in Latham. We give the players a ball and a shirt. This is a
Topps Soccer program.
In November we have family bowling. More details soon.
Basketball is called the Shooting Stars Program. We play at the
Ciccotti Center in Colonie off of Wolf Road. We play 5-9 year
olds from 4:30-5:30 p.m., 10-21 year olds from 5:30-6:30 p.m..
We play from Jan. 10 to March 14. Sign-up information will be
sent out soon.
Baseball will sign-up in March, we start in April, and end in
June with a picnic and awards.

Computer Lab Night for Parents
The computer lab in Cohoes Middle School room
208 will be open to parents on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30
p.m. Kathy Santoro will be available to help parents with their
computer needs. Please call 237-4131, Ext. 2220 with questions.
Children are not allowed unless accompanied by a parent or
guardian.
