What is the tax rate?
The tax rate is currently $34.03242 per $1,000 of assessed value.
Tax bills will be mailed Sept. 1. Payment will be due Sept. 30.
Payment may be made ONLINE at the link above, or IN PERSON at First Niagara Bank, 72 Mohawk St., Cohoes, NY 12047. Payments made BY MAIL should be addressed: Cohoes City School District, P.O. Box 1565, Buffalo, New York 14240-1565. Payments should be made payable to the Cohoes City School District.
When are my taxes due?
School taxes are due in two installments: half on Sept. 30 and half on March 31. Taxpayers will receive a bill prior to each date notifying them of the balance due. A penalty fee will be applied for late payments.
Where do I send my payment?
Taxes can by paid at the First Niagara Bank (Cohoes branch only). Payments can be mailed to Cohoes City School District, P.O. Box 1565, Buffalo, New York 14240-1565.
Who do I make my check out to?
Checks should be made out to the Cohoes City School District.
Can I make payments in person?
Yes, but only at First Niagara (Cohoes branch) during normal business hours. For security purposes, no payments will be accepted at the schools.
Can I make payments online?
Yes, payments can be made online by clicking on the link above and using your checking account number and routing number. You will receive an e-mail receipt.
If I pay my taxes through an escrow account do I have to notify my mortgage holder?
No. The process should be seamless and you should not have to make any adjustments. If you receive your bill in error please forward it to your mortgage holder.
