Tax bills for the 2015-16 school year will be mailed in August! Payment will be due Sept. 30

Please Note: You can not make payments in person at First Niagara Bank due to procedure and policy changes. If you try to pay your tax bill at First Niagara Bank, they will provide you with an addressed envelope to mail your payment.

The postmark date of your tax bill serves as the payment date.


Delinquent Taxes

Delinquent Taxes are collected during April.

All payments postmarked May 1 or later will be returned to the taxpayer. From May 15 - October 1, delinquent taxes can be paid at Cohoes City Hall.

What is the tax rate?

The 2014-2015 tax rate is $35.65 per $1,000 of assessed value.


When are my taxes due?

School taxes are due in two installments: half on Sept. 30 and half on March 31. Taxpayers will receive a bill prior to each date notifying them of the balance due. A penalty fee will be applied for late payments.

 Payments can be mailed to Cohoes City School District, P.O. Box 1565, Buffalo, New York 14240-1565.


Who do I make my check out to?

Checks should be made out to the Cohoes City School District.


Can I make payments online?

Yes, payments can be made online by clicking on the link above and using your checking account number and routing number. You will receive an e-mail receipt.


If I pay my taxes through an escrow account do I have to notify my mortgage holder?

No. The process should be seamless and you should not have to make any adjustments. If you receive your bill in error please forward it to your mortgage holder.
