Local artist teaches students
about her craft
In
May, Guilderland-based artist Laura Hamor's work was displayed
in the Principal's Gallery at Abram Lansing, and the sculptural
illustrator and painter visited students to show them her work.
To
create her unique clay illustrations, Hamor begins with a pencil
sketch. She eventually uses clay, shaped with a pasta machine,
rolling pins, clay tools and her hands to put together her
illustration, which is then photographed.
At Abram Lansing, Hamor had students working
with clay. She read the students a story about an egg and had
students sculpt what they thought would appear from inside the
egg once it cracked and opened!
