Cohoes High School students to
participate in employability course
Beginning in February, students in the
Troy, Lansingburgh and Cohoes school districts who are VESID
eligible with a teacher recommendation, will participate in a
10-week employability-training course once per week at Hudson
Valley Community College.
The course is funded through the Model
Transition Program Grant and will introduce students to
work-related issues including self assessment, successful work
attitudes, goal-setting, presentation skills and interviewing,
networking, following instructions, filling out applications,
portfolio building, employer expectations and decision-making.
Students who successfully complete the World of
Work Course earn a Certificate of Employability. Presenting this
certificate to future employers shows that the student has been
instructed in workplace expectations and are job-ready.
