Crafty kids at Van Schaick
learn to knit
Fingers
were flying in Ms. Burgess-Bradt's multiage classroom in early
December as her students, with the help of Barbara Hildrith,
former Harmony Hill School principal, learned to knit.
Hildrith, who owns BeauKnits, Ltd., a yarn store
in Cohoes, visited Van Schaick Grade School a few times to help
students learn to "finger knit," or to knit without using
traditional needles.
Students were knitting long yarn chains, which
some said they planned to use as belts and others said they were
going to use as Christmas gifts.
