Cohoes City School District

Letter to families regarding Brittany Knight's death

June 17, 2016

Dear Families:

Today was a very sad day for the Cohoes City School District as our students, faculty and staff learned about the tragic loss of one of our high school students, Brittany Knight. We are all deeply saddened and extend our sympathy to Brittany’s parents, her siblings, extended family and friends.

We realize that this is a difficult time for our students, faculty and staff. Counselors were available today at both the high school and middle school and will continue next week.

Loss impacts people, especially children, in different ways. As the grieving process continues, please be aware of your child’s reaction and feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns. Should your child need additional support throughout the weekend, please contact one of the many counseling services available to the community (listed below). Cohoes is a close knit community. This loss affects us all, and together we will continue to honor Brittany and keep her family in our thoughts.
