The ribbon-cutting at the entrance to the school will be followed by student-led tours of the high school, including a glimpse of the new Alumni Gymnasium, with its suspended track. The official opening of the high school is a much-anticipated community celebration and the culmination of a multi-year, multi-million dollar strategic investment in all of our schools!
It was 2006 when the district embarked on a comprehensive infrastructure improvement plan intended to modernize and renovate the schools. With the support of the Cohoes community, these building projects have positioned the district as one with its eye to the future: a place where safe and spacious schools enhance teaching and learning, and where state-of-the art classrooms and technology support the district’s guiding principle of “learning by all.”
Renovations have included: construction of the new Alumni Gymnasium: classroom additions at every school in the district including construction of a two-story, six-classroom at the high school; addition of four UPK classrooms at Abram Lansing; modern technology improvements and space for project-based learning; restructuring of the parking lots at several of the schools to improve traffic flow and student safety. At the high school, a new entrance lobby and a new guidance suite are also part of a new and improved center for learning for our students.
