One case of whooping cough confirmed at Abram Lansing summer reading program

August 6, 2012 - District officials are working with the Albany County Department of Health regarding one confirmed case of pertussis – also known as whooping cough – at the Abram Lansing Elementary School's summer tutoring program. District officials have sent a letter and a pertussis fact sheet home to families of students who are participating in summer programming at Abram Lansing and to staff.

The student with the confirmed case of pertussis has received appropriate medical care, and all who had close contact with the individual have been identified and treated. If your child experiences any of the pertussis symptoms listed in the fact sheet, contact your child’s health care provider.
