Jan. 11, 2012 - Some of the youngest students at
Abram Lansing were treated to a special visit today from beloved
storybook characters, Frog and Toad, who stopped by the school to
remind students that people's differences should never get in the
way of friendship.

The students watched and listened as the characters performed a special "live-action" telling of "The Lost Button" from the book, Frog and Toad are Friends, written by Arthur Lobel. After the story, students spent time learning some of the vocabulary used to describe the upbeat Frog and the often-cranky Toad. Together they chose the words that would best describe Frog and Toad.
While many of the Frog and Toad activities were focused on the story and the message of true friendship that exists between the two, students were able to practice their math skills by measuring their height in "toad" units. They also were able to observe live African frogs that were on hand to add to the celebration of Frog and Toad.
The Frog and Toad learning experience was spearheaded and organized by Mrs. Karin Sencer and Mrs. Betsy O'Neill.
