Sept.
22, 2010 - Congratulations to Valerie Kisselback and Oivia Richards
who have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their
exceptional achievement on AP Exams. The College Board's Advanced
Placement Program provides willing and academically prepared
students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses
while still in high school, and earn college credit, advanced
placement or both for successful performance on the AP Exams.
Typically colleges accept AP Credit if a student scores at least a 4
on the exams, however it is dependent on each specific school.
In addition, both girls earned the recognition of National Merit
Scholarship Semifinalist, based on their PSAT scores. Approximately
1.5 million juniors entered the competition by taking the 2009 PSAT.
The nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one
percent of US high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring
entrants in each state. The next round of the competition will be
finalized in the spring of their senior year. Congratulations to
these students!
