District searching for school business administrator

Sept. 16, 2010 – The Cohoes City School District Board of Education is seeking to hire a school business official to replace the outgoing school district treasurer.

The individual who fills the position will replace current School District Treasurer Adam Hotaling who is leaving the district on Sept. 24, 2010, to accept a new position in the business office of Capital Region BOCES.

Hotaling, who graduated from Cohoes High School in 2000, submitted his resignation to the Board of Education at its Sept. 1, 2010, meeting. He has worked for the district since 2007, first serving as treasurer and later the district’s business official.

After discussions, the Board of Education has decided to replace Hotaling with a NYSED certificated business official to ensure the district has a top-notch person running the business office, which includes overseeing payroll, taxes, transportation, school building construction and the district’s budget.

"The board is seeking a dynamic individual who understands our community and our district’s needs, as well as someone who understands the importance of balancing the use of the taxpayer dollar with the needs of our children," said President of the Board of Education Anne Marie Hume. "We're excited to see the interest we will garner in the position."
