Oct.
20, 2010 – Brandon LaForest is not your average middle school
student, and he's not your average soccer player either.
Brandon, an eighth-grader at Cohoes Middle School, has been playing soccer since he was in kindergarten. Now, the humble forward is playing on the district's varsity team and leading the team in goals this season with 14.
"It's refreshing to coach a student who is as coachable as Brandon," said the boys varsity coach David Wasserman. "Every time I see him, we always have a positive interaction."
Brandon says he has felt very welcomed by the varsity players and simply likes to compete, and that has carried him far. During the 2009-10 school year, he was named Most Valuable Player for junior varsity soccer, freshman basketball and modified baseball.
In addition, he is a member of the National Junior Honor Society at
Cohoes Middle School.
