May 5, 2011 — Last week, State Senator Neil
Breslin (D) visited Larry Conners’ Participation in Government
class. Senator Breslin is currently serving his eighth term as New
York State Senator. He represents the city of Cohoes as part of the
46th District, which consists entirely of Albany County.
Senator Breslin is a lifelong Capital District resident and has been a community leader for many years. He spoke of growing up in Albany, one of six children, and how his parents instilled in them the importance of a good education and community service. He reiterated to students, who are preparing to graduate from high school and head off to college or other endeavors the importance of getting a good education.
Reflecting back on his college days, he spoke of the friendship and bond formed with Assemblyman Ron Canestrari while the two attended Fordham University. The message was clear: education is important and we can all work to improve our community each day of the year through service and service-learning.
