Jan. 24 – February is an important month for CHS juniors who are
interested in learning more about the New Visions program. The Capital
Region BOCES Career & Technical School offers college-bound seniors
who enroll in New Visions an “outside the box” learning experience
that turns area businesses into exciting classrooms through job
shadowing, internships, and in-depth study in specialized areas. (full

Students interested in careers in health, journalism & media studies,
or law & government can earn honors, AP and college credit and gain a
distinct advantage over other college applicants by enrolling in New
Visions. A New Visions representative will be at the high school on
February 2nd at 11:30 a.m. to discuss details of the program.
A series of Open Houses at the Capital Region BOCES Career & Technical
School (CTE) are scheduled
flyer(PDF) and will feature New Visions teacher and students
providing an overview of the course components, units of study and
other pertinent information. Parents are invited to attend. The CTE is
located at 1015 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Colonie (just east of New
Karner Road). All Open House activities will take place in the Dining
Room of Building B. The following is a list of important dates:

Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m: Journalism & Media
Studies
Wednesday, February 16, 2011, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m: Law & Government
Thursday, Feb. 17: Snow date: reserved for any open houses which are
cancelled
Also, on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, Capital Region BOCES will host a
New Visions Evening Open House to be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at
the same location, with information about all New Visions programs.
This evening program is for students and parents unable to attend the
daytime open houses.
Please note: Any students interested in the New Visions METS (Math,
Engineering, Technology and Science) program, please see your school
counselor as the application deadline is February 11th.
