Seventh-grade
student Jaron Esposito won the 25th Annual Cohoes Middle School
Spelling Bee, by correctly spelling "mongoose."
A special thanks to the CMS PTO, which pays for all of the registration fees, buys trophies for all participants and pays for refreshments.
Third place went to eighth-grade student Daniel Lasure and second palce went to eighth-grade student Damon Gwinn.
In total, 19 students participated in the bee. Those students earned their place on stage by competing in, and winning, classroom bees held earlier this month. Jaron will represent Cohoes Middle School in the Scripp's Regional Spelling Bee at Proctors Theatre in Schenectady on Feb. 9, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.
