Dec. 1, 2010 – On Tuesday, Nov. 23, students of ESL program
had their first Thanksgiving Feast.
Katya Kats and Rachel Engelhard, ESL teachers at Harmony Hill, made
traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner included corn bread,
baked pumpkin, berries and nuts, cranberry sauce.
There are 26 ESL students at Harmony Hill. So there was 2
Thanksgiving Feasts: one for K-2 grades, and one for 3, 4 and 5
grades. The Feast took place at the school’s new spacious Art Room.
Students discussed the history of Thanksgiving, religious freedom
that they can relate to. They discussed the traditions and customs
of their new country America. They have learned new words and their
meanings.
