On
May 21, 2010 the Community Service Club hosted its first-ever
charity dodgeball tournament. Students from the high school and
middle school, as well as alumni, played a double-elimination
tournament in order to raise money for the Juvenile Arthritis
Foundation.
The event was organized by Mackenzie Gregory, a freshman at Cohoes High School. Mackenzie's sister Colby was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis, making this cause a priority for Mackenzie and her family.
The
event made more than $700 through a combination of donations, team
sponsorships, and food purchases. A special thanks to the multiple
teachers who sponsored teams to play.
Additional thanks goes to Raychel Mossey and Rachel Cotch, who worked the event selling pizza and water and maintaining the bracket. Congratulations to Team Ducharme 2: Danny Dechiaro, Marcus Zych, Justin Yeary, Dale McKay, Lauren Marra and Riley Schongar, who won this year's tournament.
