I think the egg drop is one of my all-time favorites. I have also really enjoyed the people I work with. They have become family to me. Even though I don't live in Cohoes, I have invested my life to this community and the families here so that's going to be hard to leave.
I love that sometimes I feel like the pied piper. People will wave when they see me, and I often see kids in the community or adults that I had as students.
I'll miss the creative aspect of teaching. I love the part of teaching that is acting, singing, window dressing… there's a lot of avenues to be creative. That will be my challenge in retirement. Where will those outlets be now? I will also miss the mental stimulation. There's always a workshop, something new to learn, practice, or a guest speaker. You have the opportunity to meet children's authors and see magicians.
I would say the big message is detect your passion. Detect your passion and then do everything you can to make that your life's work.
Travel, teravel, travel. On the list of places to visit are: The Great Wall of China and going through the Panama Canal.
