Meal prices to rise slightly in September

The price of breakfast and lunch in the Cohoes City Schools will rise slightly, beginning in September 2008.

New menu prices will be as follows:

Milk 50 cents
Breakfast $1.10
Reduced breakfast 25 cents
Lunch $2
Reduced lunch 25 cents

Advanced-purchase breakfast
Full price
10 breakfasts $10
20 breakfasts $20

Advanced-purchase lunch
Full price
10 lunches $19
20 lunches $38

Reduced lunch
10 lunches $2.50
20 lunches $5

The change in price is the result of several factors that are not unique to Cohoes. Factors contributing to the change include the cost of: food, fuel/delivery, service/maintenance, labor, and employee benefits.

As always, the district would like to remind parents and guardians that their children may be eligible for free or reduced-price meals. Applications are available at any time during the school year. Applications are available at the school lunch office or on the district Web site. Students who meet the eligibility guidelines are entitled to one complete breakfast and one lunch daily.
