Van Schaick students begin a
year of good behavior
On
Friday, Sept. 8, Van Schaick Grade School students in grades 1-5
spent the morning learning about how to behave properly in
school and the importance of "The Three Be's"—be safe, be
respectful and be responsible.
In addition to a welcome assembly lead by
Principal Jacqueline DeChiaro, students went through five
stations in various spots around the school.
At one station, students created quilt square on a piece of
paper that each depicted one of "The Three Be's" through a
school activity. For example, one student drew students playing
safely on the playground, while another drew two girls sharing
with each other. All of the quilt squares will be
incorporated
into one large quilt that will hang in the gym as a reminder of
the assembly.
At the other stations, students were reminded of the proper
behavior in the bathrooms, hallways and cafeteria, as well as
what happens when they do misbehave.
"The Three Be's" are part of the Positive Behavior Interventions
and Supports program.
