Firefighters are not scary!
On
Friday, Oct. 19, two members of the Cohoes Fire Department
visited Harmony Hill School to talk to all of the students about
fire safety.
After students in each class had a chance to
climb in the truck and pretend to drive, sometimes with the
sirens or lights flashing, and to see the equipment, one
firefighter put on his mask, helmet and goggles so the students
could see what a firefighter would look like coming in to rescue
a student during a fire.
"Are firefighters scary?" asked Cohoes Firefighter Jack
Daigneault.

"No!" the students responded.
"Should you hide under the bed?" he asked.
"No!" the students responded.
"In a closet?" he suggested.
"No!" they cried, ensuring the firefighters that they know what
to do in case of a fire.
In addition to a visit from the firefighters, the students all
got red firefighter hats as a momento. |
