Fire department visits UPK
students at Abram Lansing
For
students in Abram Lansing's UPK class, having a fire truck visit
the school was a big deal.
Wearing hats they had decorated themselves and
singing a song about fire trucks, the students cheered when
members of the Cohoes Fire Department came to the school to show
them the truck and talk a bit about fire safety in recognition
of October as Fire Prevention Month.
Two members of the department brought a truck to the school, and
allowed the students to try on their coats and boots, and get
inside the truck to see what it would be like to ride in it.

The students were overjoyed at the opportunity to turn the
steering wheel and were dwarfed by the size of the truck.
The firefighters reminded students that although they may look
scary with their oxygen tanks and face masks on, children should
never be afraid of firefighters because they only want to help.
