Robert K. Libby appointed
Superintendent of Cohoes City Schools
Current assistant superintendent to assume
post June 9
Following
a two-month search process, Robert K. Libby was appointed to the
position of Superintendent of Schools of the Cohoes City School
District by the Board of Education at its May 21 meeting.
Libby, who has served the district for the last
15 years as the assistant superintendent for business and
operations, brings with him a deep knowledge of the Cohoes
schools and community, as well as strong academic leadership
skills.
"I am thrilled to accept my new position as
Superintendent of Schools for the Cohoes City School District,"
Libby said. "In my time as assistant superintendent, I have come
to know Cohoes as a place where the staff, Board of Education
and greater community support the schools' mission of learning
for all students. I am honored to have been chosen to lead the
district forward."
Libby has worked in the field of education for
more than 20 years. Prior to working in Cohoes, he was the
assistant superintendent for business services in the Greater
Johnstown School District in Johnstown, N.Y., (1989-1993) and
administrative assistant to the superintendent of schools in the
Maine School Administrative District No. 75, in Topsham, Maine,
(1983-1989).
Libby holds a Bachelor of Arts in History, a
Master of Arts in Political Science and a Certificate of
Advanced Study in Educational Administration, all from the
University of Maine.
"The Board is pleased and proud to name one of
our team to this crucial position," said V. Mark Pascale, the
President of the Board of Education. "Mr. Libby was selected
through an inclusive process involving district staff, students
and the community. Special thanks to our BOCES Consultant Gerald
Carozza for his support and expertise throughout our search. We
look forward to working with Bob and confident that we will
enjoy continued progress under his leadership."
Libby will assume his new position on Monday,
June 9, following the resignation of current Superintendent of
Schools Charles S. Dedrick, who is leaving Cohoes to serve as
the District Superintendent of the Capital Region Board of
Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES).
