Students' artwork featured in local store
About 300 pieces of artwork will be on display
at the Harmony House Marketplace in Cohoes throughout the month
of March when students' artwork will be featured.
On display will be Artist Trading Cards, which were created as
part of a district-wide art project. Starting in the fall,
students received blank two-and-a-half-inch by three-inch white
cards on which they could use a wide variety of materials to
create new works of art. The cards traveled to the other schools
in the district so students could see what their peers had
created and exchange cards with each other. The displays in the
schools were located in the art classrooms.

Artist Trading Cards are original, self-produced works that are
meant to be traded, not sold, with other people. They were
initiated in 1997 by Zurich artist, M. Vanci Stirnemann, as a
means for artists to share and socialize with other artists.
"I'm excited for the students to have a chance to exhibit their
art in the community," said Cohoes art teacher Erin Welch. "We
hope everyone has an opportunity to see their work."
The opening reception is scheduled for Friday, March 7, from 5 –
7 p.m. at Harmony House Marketplace, 184-190 Remsen St., Cohoes.
All are invited to attend.
